How Sage Works - Simple Terms
After you Setup Sage for your site, you relax!
Instead of manually modifying your sitemap and outlining the exact path to every important folder and file, let Sage do it for you! This is how it works:
- Your visitor clicks Site Map on your site
- Sage is called up and works its magic!
It's as simple as that!
How Sage Works - Technical Terms
For you technical folks, Sage uses PHP 5 searches through your top site directory (or folder, if you host multiple sites) and creates a <ul> list of your directories and folders. It replaces uses a replacement algorithm for common words, like port into Portfolio and dl into Downloads.
But what if I don't want a directory shown?
In case you don't want Sage to look into a directory, all you have to do is [Linux] touch <directory>/nosage or [Windows] create a blank file called nosage. It's that simple!
But what if I don't want a file shown?
Soon, Sage will have a customized XML-based backend editor to allow you to customize which files/directories are shown and not shown. This will also replace the nosage option, which will make things a lot easier!
Good News! If you also use Bonzai on your site, Sage automatically creates an XML file with your site map in it, so Google and other serch engines and scour your site with your permissions. Bonzai also uses this site map XML file to search your own site!
